The Harlem Fashion Week Fashion Academy is led by one of the most qaulified teams in NYC. Each one of our staff and accredited from major colleges and universities across the country. Our team collectively has been featured in Vogue Italia, Fashion Week Online, The New Yorker Magazine, Ozy,com, The Today Show and the list goes on.
Tandra Birkett
Co-Founder
Tandra Birkett has been an educator for 30 years with a masters degree from Columbia University, Teachers College. Tandra is an educational activist. She is a national lecturer with an expertise in curriculum writing, school culture and teacher development.

Yvonne Jewnell
Co- Founder
Yvonne Jewnell has worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years. She received her BFA from Parsons: School of Fashion and has participated in runway shows across the globe from West Africa, to London, to Jamaica and in the Unites States.

Nef Edwards
Program Director
Nefertere Edwards has been working with youth for over 15 years. Nef has a double masters in School Counseling and Supervision. She believes in creating a balance between knowledge, love and discipline. Graduating Magna cum Laude in African and African- American History from Lehman College, she believes that all youth deserve a shot. She is passionate about exposing youth to vast opportunities for higher learning, and serves as an advocate for Youth in any capacity to achieve their dreams.
Phyllis Spencer
Model Coach
Phyllis Spencer’s love of fitness and modeling has taken her on an
incredible journey over the past 30 + years. Phyllis Loves the runway. She has
modeled for The Today Show, Good Morning America and Harlem Fashion
Week ! Her Mantra is Love Yourself Better. Phyllis will let you know.

Trinity Brown
Jr. Model Coach
Trinity Brown has been a runways and print model for over 12 years. She has been featured in Vogue Italia, Getty Images, Hello Beautiful and many other publications. Trinity is a student at Repertory Company High School for Theatre Arts and has received several accolades such as: National Society of High School Scholars, National Honor Society and Vogue Fashion Week Award Winner.
